Text that reads: Missing School=Missing out. Below are some key reasons why it is important children attend school: to learn, to have fun, to make new friends, to experience new things, to achieve, to develop new skills, to build confidence and self esteem. Good attendance at school is important to allow a child or young person to fulfill their potential.
All three PCPS elementary schools held Back to School nights on Sept. 19, welcoming families to walk the halls and visit the classrooms where their children are educated. We encourage our families to make sure students don't miss school days for anything but absolutely necessary absences. Missed instruction time can add up quickly and put students behind. #WeArePCPS #TeamPowhatan

Attendance matters. When a student misses 2 days of school a month: They will miss 20 days a year; they will miss 30 hours of math; they will miss 60 hours of reading and writing; and they will miss over 1 year of school by graduation.
