Powhatan County Public Schools (PCPS) is pleased to share that it will continue offering the Head Start program for eligible students during the 2025-2026 school year.
Following new information provided about a vote taken this week by the Head Start Policy Council, PCPS has been informed that its 17 Head Start seats will remain in place for the upcoming school year. This decision updates earlier communications we shared, which were based on the information available to us at the time regarding regional seat reductions.
We are grateful for the continued partnership with the regional Head Start program and look forward to providing this valuable early childhood opportunity to our families.
PCPS remains committed to supporting high-quality preschool experiences through Head Start, Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE), and the Virginia Preschool Initiative (VPI).
