🏀📚 March Madness: Book Edition is happening in fourth grade at Flat Rock Elementary! 📚🏀 The teachers set up a bracket featuring 16 HMH stories they have read in reading class this school year. Each Thursday and Friday, the students have been voting for their favorites, and the excitement is real as they cheer on their picks. Fourth-grade parents, which story does your child think will win? (And yes, we know the T fell off . 😉) #wearepcps #teampowhatan

Powhatan Elementary’s Kids Heart Challenge Awards Assembly whipped students and staff into a frenzy earlier this month in the climax to American Heart Month in February! 🧡 From jump rope challenges to learning about heart health and CPR, students went above and beyond leading up to this event. Their reward was seeing some of their beloved faculty and staff members get a face full of whipped cream courtesy of some of their classmates. A HUGE thank you to everyone who participated and helped POWES raise $14,555 for the American Heart Association! 🙌🎉 #wearepcps #teampowhatan

To celebrate National Ag Week, we had some awesome visitors at our PCPS elementary schools! 🌾 Tina Winfree and Susan Smith from the Farm Bureau Ag in the Classroom program stopped by to read to students at Pocahontas and Flat Rock Elementary. They shared the book “Outdoor Farm, Indoor Farm” by Lindsay H. Metcalf to help the kids understand where our food comes from and the importance of farming. #wearepcps #teampowhatan

📚✨ In Ms. Daniel’s first grade class at Powhatan Elementary, students are mastering the art of reading through the HMH reading program! This structured literacy lesson held earlier this semester focused on phonics, helping students work on blending sounds together to read words. It's amazing to see their progress as they build strong reading foundations! 🌟📖
