Everyone at Powhatan County Public Schools works to support students and help them grow into strong, confident citizens. When problems come up that make it hard to learn, schools want to work with students and families to solve them. But we can only help with problems we know about, so it’s important to tell school staff when something is wrong. When parents have a concern, the best place to start is by talking to the adults most involved with your student: teachers, school counselors, coaches, assistant principals, or the principal.
Most problems can be solved by working with one or more of these people. If the first person you talk to can’t fix the problem, this chart shows the next step. (It might seem easier to skip steps, post on social media, or contact the news, but those options won’t help your student as much as following this process.)
