Each April, we proudly recognize Month of the Military Child, a time dedicated to celebrating and honoring the strength, resilience, and sacrifices of the children of our nation's service members. These remarkable young individuals face unique challenges as part of military families—frequent moves, long separations from loved ones, and adapting to new schools and communities—yet they continue to demonstrate courage, adaptability, and pride.
Powhatan County Public Schools (PCPS) is committed to supporting our military-connected students and their families. Throughout the month, our schools will be engaging in various activities and spirit days to raise awareness and show appreciation for these exceptional children. From classroom discussions and themed events to community shout-outs and resource sharing, we aim to shine a spotlight on their experiences and contributions.
As part of this celebration, on April 17, we hosted a special reception to honor our military-connected students and their families—recognizing the vital role they play in our community and expressing our heartfelt gratitude for their continued strength and service.
