🌟Report Cards

Report Cards will go home with students on Wednesday, January 15, 2025.

🌟Student Assessment Summary (SAS) Reports

VDOE and local school divisions now provide parents access to their child’s SOL test performance history reports. Families will receive the SAS report and the State Superintendent's letter from their student's school on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, with report cards.
Each Student Assessment Summary provides information about a student's SOL test patterns and may help identify places where additional educational support may be needed or highlight accelerated learning opportunities.
This information along with a student’s school level information and 2024 SOL test results provides context when engaging with a student’s teachers and school about his/her education.

🌟Scheduling

Students will begin selecting courses for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year.
This Scheduling Guide includes a timeline and scheduling resources for students and parents. Students will enter course requests in PowerSchool January 18-24. Course Requests must be completed BEFORE students meet with their Counselor.
Students are asked to do the best they can and come prepared with any questions they might have to their one-on-one counseling meeting.
Counselors will review their requests and help them to make any adjustments to be sure they are on track for graduation, for their specific diploma as well as for their future college and career goals.
All one-on-one meetings will be completed by February 21st.

🌟The PHS Experience: A Showcase of Classes, Sports, and Activities (Previously Known as the PHS Instructional Fair)

Come join us Thursday, January 16th 6:00-8:00 pm for The PHS Experience: A Showcase of classes, sports and activities.

This evening will show you what PHS has to offer! The program starts at 6:00 in the auditorium where our award winning band and chorus students will share their talents. Then students will take a tour of the elective classes learning from our students about the opportunities in and out of the classroom while parents will learn about graduation requirements and how to help their students have a successful high school experience. 6:45-8:00 students and parents are invited to check out the following opportunities:

Main Street: Curriculum Displays
Commons: AP / Dual Enrollment, Athletic Eligibility Clubs, Counseling Services, Financial Aid, Military & College Recruiters; Testing: SAT, ACT, PSAT, ASVAB
Gym: Sports (students will talk about the many offerings)
Aux Gym: JROTC Demos for Marksmanship and Raiders

This is a great opportunity to learn more about the many opportunities for students to get involved and to help them choose classes that will best prepare them for their future.

🌟Dinner and a Show!

The Powhatan High School Choral Department is pleased to announce that their annual "Dinner and a Show" event will now be held on Tuesday, February 4th, in the PHS Auditorium. Please note that the original date of Tuesday, January 28th, has been rescheduled due to recent inclement weather and delays in instruction. This adjustment allows our students additional time to perfect their performances and ensure they are fully prepared for the event.
The evening will feature performances by the One Voice Concert Choir, Radiance Uni-voice Show Choir, "Unplugged" A Cappella Choir, and Resonance Mixed Show Choir, all of which will be debuting their 2025 competition shows. We invite you to join us in supporting these Grand Champion-winning groups as they showcase their talents.
Dinner Service: 6:00 PM in the PHS Commons
Show Time: 7:00 PM in the PHS Auditorium
Tickets can be purchased online at www.powhatanchoirs.com, as well as through social media platforms. Additionally, ticket order forms will be available in the PHS main office and through our choral students.

🌟Musical Auditions

Students interested in joining the Cast, Crew, and Band for the PHS Theatre production of HADESTOWN: Teen Edition - Auditions have been rescheduled for this week!
Cast Auditions will be held in the PHS Auditorium on Monday, January 13th starting at 3 p.m.
While the directing team anticipates a long afternoon – Students are free to leave as soon as their auditions conclude.
Callbacks will be held after school in the PHS Library on Tuesday, January 14th.
