Powhatan Elementary has been in its present location, adjacent to Powhatan Middle School, since 1987 when the building was constructed to service all JK-3rd grade students in the county.  The school currently services approximately 440 students in grades PK-5.  The school contains 30 classrooms, a multipurpose room/cafeteria, kitchen,  gymnasium, art room, music room, computer lab and our library.   The outside campus includes a fenced, handicap accessible playground and a large open play area.  In addition, there is a butterfly garden and a fenced preschool playground.  The building itself is built around a central courtyard that has been enhanced through a Partners in the Arts grant. 

Powhatan Elementary has been fully accredited by the state of Virginia for many years and has met AYP for many years.  We are proud of our students' accomplishments.
