About Us

Pocahontas Elementary opened its doors during the 1996 - 1997 school year, adjacent to the historic Powhatan Landmark Center. The school currently services approximately 775 students in grade PK - 5 who reside in the northern and western portions of beautiful Powhatan County. Pocahontas Elementary is a targeted Title I school and also houses three VPI (Virginia Preschool Initiative) classes. Students at Pocahontas Elementary participate in a variety of resource classes including art, music, library, computer technology and physical education. The outside campus includes a large open play area, baseball field, track, and playground. We have a strong Parent Teacher Organization that supports our students, staff and building.
